Professional Background
Ali Hashemian, Ph.D., COHC
President and Founder
Ali Hashemian is the President of American College of Behavioral Medicine, Inc., a California Limited Liability Corporation, and director of the Attention & Achievement Center. He holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and has completed the Hearing Conservation Certification program at Portland State University, as well as the Professional Program in Neuropsychological Assessment from the University of California at Berkeley. He has received several hundred hours of continuing education and training in child and adolescent psychiatric disorders from Harvard Medical School, Department of Psychiatry and Massachusetts General Hospital. He has also completed The Intensive Course in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation at Beth Israel Hospital, a teaching affiliate hospital of Harvard Medical School. He has completed EEG Neurofeedback training as well as Advanced EEG Neurofeedback training for ADD/ADHD.
Ali Hashemian is a member of the Harvard Medical School Post-Graduate Association, Department of Continuing Education, Society for Neuron Regulation, Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, The Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders, The American Occupational Therapy Association, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and The American Society of Bariatric Physicians. He specializes in alternative and complimentary solutions for symptoms of ADD/ADHD, Learning Disorders, and Cognitive Skills Deficits in compliance with California's alternative Health Care Practitioners' Law (SB 577), and as such he does not practice psychology and is not a physician or surgeon.

Carl Hirsch, O.D., FCOVD
Carl Hirsch, O.D., FCOVD is an Optometrist with 25 years of experience in Vision Therapy. He is a graduate of the New England College of Optometry, and attended the Residency Program in Visual Therapy at the State University of New York, School of Optometry.
He has extensive experience in procedures for the symptoms of learning-related Vision Problems, including ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, Reading, and Tracking Problems, as well as Visual Rehabilitation for Special Populations, including Patients with Traumatic Brain Injuries, Stroke, Whiplash, Developmental Delays, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, among others.
Dr. Hirsch has a general practice with a specialty in vision development/vision therapy and is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
Dr. Hirsch performs visual examinations and vision therapy for some of the center's clients.

Meyer Proler, M.D.
Meyer Proler, M.D. is a graduate of Baylor University, College of Medicine, and is certified by the American EEG Society Board of Qualifications, as well as the American Board of Electroencephalography with special competence in Quantified EEG.
He has been a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Baylor University for over 14 years. He has had numerous scientific papers on neurology published. Dr. Proler is a member of American Medical Association, American Academy of Clinical Neurophysiology and American Academy of Neurology, among others.
Dr. Proler reviews EEG files for the center's clients.

Greg Alter, Ph.D. is a licensed Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist. Dr. Alter directs the Berkeley Biofeedback and Psychology Center. He brings over thirty years of experience in the use of biofeedback to enhance attention, performance and well-being.
In addition, Dr. Alter offers educational assessments and psychotherapy. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and the National Register of Healthcare Providers in Psychology. Dr. Alter is a pioneer in the biofeedback field, integrating diverse approaches from both biofeedback and the psychology of health and well-being. Dr. Alter is a professor of Psychology at Argosy University.
Dr. Alter provides clinical supervision at the center.

Anne Jackson, Ph.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY 17785)
Anne Jackson, Ph.D. (PSY 17785) is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and certified professional life coach with over 20 years of experience in clinical evaluation, psychological testing, and psychotherapy with adults, families, adolescents and children. She completed her doctorate at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a post-doctoral fellowship at Detroit Psychiatric Institute, where she was responsible for evaluations and psychotherapy with children and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Dr. Jackson has taught at the University of Michigan, has been a participant in continuing education courses in advanced psychopathology and advanced psychotherapeutic techniques, and has been a participant and presenter in continuing clinical case conferences and weekly supervision.
As an interdisciplinary team leader and a staff psychologist at several psychiatric hospitals and outpatient clinics for children and adults, Dr. Jackson was responsible for the coordination of therapy interventions for individual and group therapy, and offered parental guidance and coaching for adults and parents of child outpatients. Dr. Jackson has been a research team member at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research, Children’s Psychiatric Hospital, the University of Michigan Center for the Child and Family, and the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute.

Francine Grevin, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY 16634)
Francine Grevin, Psy.D. (PSY 16634) is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of clinical settings. Her clinical experience includes work with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Asperger's, Tourette's, ADHD and Bipolar Disorder as well as anxiety and depression, grief, childhood abuse and adjustment disorders. Her background includes an internship in the Psychiatry Department of Children's Hospital Oakland, psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessment of children and adolescents on the Child and Family Team of a large HMO, therapy and psychological testing in an acute psychiatric hospital. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Alliant University after obtaining her B.A. degree in Psychology at the University of California Davis.

Dr. Michael Bass
Dr. Michael Bass is a board certified neurologist with over 30 years of experience and is licensed to practice medicine in the State of California. Dr. Bass interprets Electro Encephalograph of some of the Center's clients as well as manages their medications.

Dr. Peter Newsome
Dr. Newsome is a Board certified Pediatric Neuropsychiatrist and licensed to practice medicine in the State of California. Dr. Newsome consults with some of Center's Clients and attends to their pharmacological needs.

Kimberly Warren Meier, M.A., CCC-A
Licensed Clinical Audiologist
Kimberly Warren Meier, M.A., CCC-A is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Master of Arts Degree in Audiology, with a minor in Speech-Language Pathology, and Child Development. She has a long and distinguished career spanning nearly 25 years as a clinical audiologist, providing diagnostic and rehabilitative audiological services for adults and children. She has worked as an educational audiologist for hearing impaired children, including working at Archbishop Ryan School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children. In addition, she provided audiological services for disabled children, with the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs, through the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. She held the Audiology Chair for the Commonwealth of Kentucky Licensing Board for Specialists in Hearing Instruments for two years, and is a licensed as a clinical audiologist in the state of Kentucky. Ms. Meier provides consulting services to the Center.

Jay Gunkelman, QEEGD
Jay Gunkelman entered the biofeedback field in 1972, starting the first State Hospital based biofeedback lab. He is a registered EEG technologist, having processed well over 500,000 EEGs, and more recently became a certified QEEG technologist (certificate #1, 1996), and a QEEG-Diplomate in 2002. Jay has sat on the AAPB Board as well as being a Past-President along with other offices of ISNR.
