Professional Background

Ali Hashemian Ali Hashemian, Ph.D., CEO
Ali Hashemian is the President and CEO of American College of Behavioral Medicine, Inc. which owns and operates the five Attention and Achievement Centers located in the San Francisco- San Jose metropolitan markets.  He is also the co-founder and CEO of Brain Science International, a leading provider to clinics worldwide of  EEG/qEEG/ERP analysis, interpretation and Neurotherapy recommendation as well as educational seminars and workshops teaching QEEG Brain Mapping , EEG Neurotherapy and neuroscience to doctors and clinicians worldwide.


Under his supervision, Attention and Achievement Center has provided diagnostic evaluations, QEEG recording and interpretation and non-medication based interventions including Neurofeedback (EEG Neurofeedback), Auditory Integration Training, Sensory Integrations training and coaching to thousands of clients over the past decade.


He has completed the Hearing Conservation Certification program at Portland State University, and also has completed the Professional Program in Neuropsychological Assessment from the University of California at Berkeley. He has received several hundred hours of continuing education and training in child and adolescent psychiatric disorders from Harvard Medical School, and has completed the intensive course in Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation at Harvard.


He is a Certified Berard Practitioner, as well as a Certified Solisten (by Tomatis) System provider and an Associate of the International Association of Registered Certified Tomatis Consultants. He serves on the Board of Directors of Internationional Society For Neurofeedback Reserach (ISNR) and is President Elect of California Biofeedback Society.

Ali Hashemian specializes in alternative non-medication based treatments and does not practice medicine or psychology.

Meyer ProlerMeyer Proler, M.D.

Meyer Proler, M.D., is a graduate of Baylor University, College of Medicine, and is certified by       the American EEG Society Board of Qualifications, as well as American Board of Electroencephalography with special competence in Quantified EEG. He has been a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Baylor University for over 14 years. He has had numerous scientific papers on neurology published. Dr. Proler is a member of American Medical Association, American Academy of Clinical Neurophysiology and American Academy of Neurology among others. He is president of MedDataLink and Statlink which processes hundreds of EEG’s for doctors and hospitals in the United Stated and other parts of the world each month. He is also a shareholder and principal at Brain Science International and provides QEEG interpretations to client clinics throughout the world.

Gregory Alter, Ph.D. is a California Licensed Psychologist. Dr. Alter is also a managing director of NeuroAdvantage, specializing in the clinical integration of light and sound neuromodulation, neurofeedback, and biofeedback. He brings over thirty years of experience in the use of biofeedback to enhance attention, performance and well-being.

In addition, Dr. Alter offers educational assessments and psychotherapy. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, and the National Register of Healthcare Providers in Psychology. Dr. Alter is a pioneer in the biofeedback field, integrating diverse approaches from both biofeedback and the psychology of health and well-being. Dr. Alter is a member of American Board of Professional Psychology and is Board Certified in Clinical Health Psychology and Board Certified in General Biofeedback and Neurofeedback. Dr. Alter has worked with Attention and Achievement Center for over thirteen years, providing clinical supervision and training in psychophysiology.

Dr. Alter provides clinical supervision at the center.

Michael Bass, M.D.

Dr. Michael BassMichael Bass, M.D. is a Board Certified Clinical Electroencephalographer and Neurologist with over 30 years of experience as a diagnostician. He has developed expertise in technologies outside EEG, notably performing and interpreting electromyography; nerve conduction studies; carotid arteriography; and Doppler/ultrasound studies of cervical, cranial, and peripheral blood vessels. He has had training in Quantitative EEG (QEEG).

He is a graduate of University of Arkansas School of Medicine and is a member of The Association of California Neurologists and the EEG and Clinical Neuroscience Society.

In addition to years of in-patient and out-patient neurology practice, Dr. Bass’s experience includes running a state hospital ward for chronic mental problems including developmental disorders, as well as running the medical care for the Alameda County Santa Rita Rehabilitation Center. He has done years of Orthopedic Disability exams in addition to neurological ones. He participated in research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Currently, he practices in Northern California and provides review and neurological examination services to selected clients at The Attention and Achievement Center.
